Segments opens with a group of male students watching a professor illustrate the proper design of pants. Fades into a close-up of an African American man sewing a jacket by hand. Then transitions into a close up of a man ironing a garment. Segment then transitions into a group of women from relief families the household training classes offered by the Works Project Administration. Segment featrues various shots of women learning different housekeeping skills such as table service, cleaning rooms, and bed making. End of segment features a close-up of the grade chart for students and the end scene is a group of women finishing the employment service placement conducted by the WPA. Next segment features several young men and women lining up to speak with a WPA counselor regarding part time employment - a service offered in conjunction with the National Youth Administration. Segment then features several shots of men and women in part time jobs - beginning with a close-up of two men surveying a construction site, transitions to woman in a chemistry lab, and then fades into closeup of two women baking. Segment fades into several men exiting cabins to chop small trees lakeside. Segment then transitions to a large shot of a factory in which women can and preserve different fruits to be distributed to relief families. Segment ends with a close-up of a man sealing the cans. Fades into a shot of a boat approaching a New England harbor, where young men are engaged in breeding fish to restock fishing locations. Segment and clip ends with a boat full of young men casting their nets into the sea.
