March 1945. Title card reads "Manila Free of Japanese Domination." General Douglas MacArthur returns to the Phillippines to survey the damage done to Manila after America liberates the country from Japan. At Corregidor, where the Bataan Death March began, MacArthur gives a speech instructing a regiment to hoist the American flag on a flagstaff that still stands and instructs the soldiers to let no enemy ever pull them down. 

April 1945. Title card: "Roosevelt is Dead!" Franklin Roosevelt's funeral in Washington DC. His flag-draped coffin is marched past a gathering of mourning Americans. CUs on various people in tears. Eleanor Roosevelt in mourning, and the coffin in the ground. Harry Truman is sworn in as president.
