Clip opens on Ohio penitentiary. Sam Sheppard is seen walking on sidewalk, surrounded by press. Sheppard gives a press conference and responds to questions about his time in prison and the 1954 decision against him in the trial for the murder of his wife, Marilyn. Sheppard's attorney, F. Lee Bailey interjects with a reading of a judge's negative opinion of the previous trial. When asked what the cost was to him, Sheppard says "10 years" and when asked in terms of money, he angrily says that no amount of money could bring back his mother, who had committed suicide days after his guilty verdict, his father who subsequently had died of a bleeding gastric ulcer, or his father-in-law who had also committed suicide.
