James Hood and Vivian Malone walk into the University of Alabama as the first African-American students at that school. Photographers surround them as they enter the school. The second part of this newsreel shows thousands of people in St. Peter's Square in Rome. They wait for a new pope to be elected. Puffs of smoke come from the cathedral to show they have found a new pope. Pope Paul is appointed and then goes out to the balcony in front of the people. The crowd kneels in respect. In the last part of the newsreel, a red carpet is rolled out for John F. Kennedy's arrival in Germany. He is greeted by thousands at the airport and other political leaders.
