The therapist Carl Rogers introduces Mr. Lynn, a student who is troubled by his homosexuality. The therapist explains that he has almost no knowledge of Mr. Lynn, and that no introduction is needed. The therapy session begins. Mr. Lynn begins by expressing his desire to "change" his homosexuality and the path that led him to the therapist. He cannot identify the origin of his homosexual urges but he wants to explore the "problem" through psychoanalysis.
