The therapist Carl Rogers conducts an interview with "Mr. Lynn," a patient frustrated by his homosexual tendencies. Lynn talks about his concern of being stigmatized by his friends and family, and takes a drag on his cigarette. He coughs, and there is a long silence, before he starts to talk about the way his sexual desires tend to swing between attraction to women and attraction to men.
