The therapist Carl Rogers conducts an interview with "Mr. Lynn," a patient frustrated by his homosexual tendencies. Lynn talks about escapism and the way that he distracts himself--going to movies, reading, joining a fraternity at school and so on. He also discusses the sense he has that he is wasting time, especially when it comes to playing the piano. Lynn suspects that his inability to focus when practicing the piano has something to do with his other problems.
