Here’s b-roll of New York City’s East Village on Halloween in 1968. All the shots take place on 2nd Avenue near the Fillmore East concert venue.
Begins with various people walking down sidewalks. Two kids cross East 6th Street while carrying orange Jack-o’-lantern containers and wearing masks.
Bill Graham’s Fillmore East marquee lists several musicians performing in November, including Richie Havens, Quicksilver, McCoys, Joshua Light Show, Steppenwolf, Buddy Rich, and Iron Butterfly.
A “Lion” market, said to be the “King of Values,” is open for business to the immediate left of the Fillmore East.
A boy and girl wearing skull-like masks cross East 6th Street. Two women also cross the same street while pushing a baby carriage.
A group of boys ask a young man with a top hat for trick or treats. The man gives the boys string-like candy; with their candies in hand, the boys walk away.
The clip ends with more shots of pedestrians, buildings on 2nd Avenue, and traffic.
