Footage shows the manufacturing of liquor and beer.
Barrels fill a wharehouse and are being filled with liquids. Cans and bottles move on conveyor belts.
Voiceover says ethyl alcohol - an active ingredient in alcoholic beverages - is the same substance that gave our ancestors the same jolt - or buzz. Says the substance is a drug that causes progressive paralysis of the human central nervous system - just as an anesthetic puts us to sleep before an operation.
But, notes the voiceover, man was able to discover that consuming measured doses of alcohol tends to cause a pleasurable sensation, relaxes tensions, and gives us a mild euphoria.
