This B&W clip from the spring of 1968 shows portions of the Columbia University student protests and cops confronting protesters -- all, of course, in New York City. The footage here is interspersed with photos. This is part 1 of 2.
As background, the events here took place after a link was found between a Columbia University think tank and the US Department of Defense, which at the time was conducting a war in Vietnam.
An Indian song begins the clip, which eventually transforms into sounds of urgency, unease, danger. Cops catch the subway. Cops leer at the camera. Other cops are riding their motorbikes. Young people walk along a street protesting. Later, thousands are protesting. People run from street explosions. Various photos of police officers with guns.
