Lessons in safety from a military training film. CU of a signed photo of a young woman next to a notepad in which a man, Hap, writes “Dear Baby Boo” . sits on his chest, trying to think of what to write to Agnes his girlfriend. The whistle blows to signify the mail has come. The soldiers rush out of barrack. One man trips over the unlatched chest latch. Hap runs down the stairs out of the barrack, tries to hop over the fence but trips and falls on his face. The men gather round, asking if he is ok, but he gets up and runs to the mailman. The mailman calls out names and delivers letters. Hap gets a letter, hoping it is from Agnes. His friend reads aloud for him, but it turns out to be an ad for headache medicine. He walks, head down, back to the barracks, running into a man carrying a bundle of blankets. They both fall down the steps.
