Footage of the world of finance in New York.
Begins with a wide, long shot of Manhattan. A tugboat moves across the waterway. Cut to a series of shots: Person counts what may be US Treasury bonds; quarters fill a counting machine; people stand in line at a bank; long shot of Wall Street; pan shot within a Chase Manhattan Bank; high-angle view of Manhattan, with Liberty Island and Ellis Island in the distance; busy day on Wall Street, with cars and pedestrians moving about; people sit on stairs overlooking Wall Street; man serves up food from his food cart; another long shot of Wall Street, though with an American flag on display; and a zoom-in shot to a building and its windows in the distance.
Clip then shows shots of a bank’s vault. Man wheels in a palette of bags of money while another takes stock of what is on the palette and another person guards the door. Money is then counted using a large money-counting machine, and a counter shows the amount of coins that have been tallied so far. What appears to be a gold bar is weighed, and several of these gold bars are tagged. A new palette of money is removed from the fault. The vault’s thick metal door is then slowly closed and locked shut by security.
Next, we see shots of retail banking, i.e. people sitting at the desks of bankers. Perhaps loans are being applied for, checking and savings ccounts are being opened, etc. Appears to be a busy day at the bank. The bank tellers, too, are busy; each teller is helping a customer. Customers use a high table to perhaps to fill out deposit and withdrawal slips.
The remaining series of images have to do with the behind-the-scenes processing of checks at a bank.
