Clip is a commercial for the novelist Robert Crichton’s novel, “The Camerons,” which apparently was released in 1972 by the elite New York publishing house, Knopf, and is now being released in paperback.

Several readers of the novel tell the camera, and us, what they remembered about Crichton’s novel.

The first person, a red-headed woman bundled in a coat, scarf, and gloves, said that she cried reading the novel, which she remembers reading on a crowded bus.

The second person, a youthful brunette who appears to be a student, says that she faced a dilemma when she had Crichton’s book: “Should I read the book or should I study?” The young woman opens her 3-ring binder, revealing “The Camerons” inside. She gleefully tells us that the novel won this so-called dilemma.

The narrator then tells us that the novel, a year-long bestseller, is being released as a paperback.

The final shot is of an older gentleman - he's the third person - standing on a sidewalk, holding “The Camerons” open before him. He tells us that he MUST read this novel - as if nothing is going to come between him and his mission to read Crichton’s latest, bestselling story. The man's parting look is one of utter desperation, bordering on obsession.
