This late 1960s clip shows b-roll of a neighborhood in Harlem, New York.
Clip begins with black kids playing basketball on school grounds. Several black boys play-fight with each other. Many other kids are simply leaving a school building, carrying their bags and books.
A black family hangs out on a sidewalk. Kids sit on steps. Other kids throw a ball back and forth. Black teens stand on a stoop and chat.
There are many exterior shots of several buildings on a particular street. The buildings are wide and have many windows. Fire escape ladders and landings line these same buildings.
New York City cops -- NYPD -- talk to each other on the street. Officers leave an NYPD station, perhaps to start their work shifts -- or to go home. Several police cars are parked or else are being parked.
Garbage and rubble fills an area between several apartment buildings. The buildings themselves look old and decrepit, as if neglected for many years.
The clip ends with a POV driving shot through a Harlem neighborhood -- which looks like a low-income, working-class neighborhood.
