Here’s a clip showing a 1960s rally in San Francisco to free Black Panther Huey Newton.

Hundreds of people carry posters with Newton’s image in front of a red star; the caption on these posters reads “HUEY P. NEWTON.”

Many at the rally are youth and/or African-American. Many are pumping their fists in the air, as if wanting to show the strength of their conviction that Newton ought to be freed.

Some red flags carry a black, stencil-like image of Che Guevara, the Argentine communist and revolutionary.

One black banner reads “FREE HUEY.”

One poster reads, in part, “FIGHT RACISM.” Another poster reads “JAIL UAW LEADERS. FREE HUEY.”

In a nearby building, workers stand by their windows, watching the rally as if it were some new, never-seen-before animal.
