1930s
There is a close up of a bartender with an handlebar mustache asleep at a small bar. He is resting his head in his hand. An arm comes from the right side of the frame a slams a glass on the bar, startling and awakening the bartender. The camera pulls back to reveal a man smoking, who had just slammed on the bar, and a restaurant scene. The bartender pours the smoking man a drink. The bartender then walks across the restaurant to a woman sleeping on a table. He attempts to wake her by shaking her arms and head, but she remains asleep. Two women enter and take a seat and a different table close to the bar, and the bartender walks over to set the table. At the same time, a woman in a shiny, tight dress and bra walks into the center of the frame and she removes her necklace. Just behind her, a thief with a scarf and hat sneaks up on her, and snatches the necklace from her hands. The thief pushes her to the floor. A policeman enters just after the theft, and the thief runs out of the restaurant to the left. The policeman, the bartender, the smoking man, and one of the women from the table all get up and run out of the restaurant to the left. The woman in the shiny dress gets back up to her feet, and puts on a record. She then walks over to the sleeping woman at the table, hands her a drink and she wakes up to take a sip. The shot closes on the shiny dressed women and she begins her burlesque dance to the “can can” song. She takes off her long skirt, and then a shorter skirt while dancing and shaking.
