Contrasts older hand methods of blowing glass with modern techniques of making glass by use of automatic machinery. Illustrates step-by-step procedures of blowing a glass piece by hand. Intercut with the jar-making machine at work, a worker near the machine rolls a cigarette, uses a pair of tongs to lift a jar from the conveyor belt, and lights his cigarette on the underside of the still-hot jar.
