Clip opens with individual shots of book covers from books on Picasso. There are numerous books on Picasso on a table. Narrator states there have been more books published about Picasso than Michelangelo. Additional books are placed on the table. Picture of hands turning the pages in one of the books and shots of Picasso's pictures. 1895 appears (when Picasso got started) and two of Picasso's first paintings are shown. Next 1900 appears. Narrator states this is when Picasso first visited Paris. The narrator takes the viewer through years and periods in Picasso's career and we see shots of his various paintings from each period. 1905: Rose Period; 1908: African Negro Art; 1910: Cubism; 1918: Returns to realism and precision; 1922: Finds inspiration from the Hellenic and Roman paintings; 1929: Returns to abstract art; 1934: Expressionism (forms are extravagantly distorted; 1940: Returns to less deformed art.
