Ships and planes are prepared for Admiral Byrd's third expedition to Antarctica. Veterans play with puppies that will become sled dogs. Admiral Byrd and his staff discuss plans for the expedition. Men from military ranks, civilian agencies of government, and scientific institutions board the ship and wave goodbye to their loved ones as the ship leaves the dock. The men stay in Antarctica for five months where they conduct seismic, cosmic ray, auroral, biological, tidal, magnetic and physiological observations. The next newsreel covers a Christmas parade in New York. Various floats, circus animals, bands, and Christmas figures are seen along the street.
